Kool Keith & Real Bad Man - Serpent (2023)
Just pulled this out of my 2023 queue to “spin” for the first time. Heard a few tracks over the last few months when shuffling the queue, about time I dive in and now I’m halfway through – it’s really good. I’m not well-versed in Kool Keith, remember seeing Dr. Octagon in the CD racks in the 90s but don’t think what I heard appealed to him. I’ve heard him feature on other albums I like, and enjoyed his collab with L’Orange in 2015 (Time? Astonishing!) but that’s it. Don’t know who Real Bad Man is. But this is pretty great.

…this is a unusually high level of 90’s indie for a mid western teenager. She also said she likes lying on her bed crying to The Cure & The Smiths.
Slapped on Heaven or Las Vegas to celebrate.
