Ticketmaster fined for hacking Songkick data

As per thread title, really:

Oh wow, brazen

Further, Ticketmaster’s employees brazenly held a division-wide ‘summit’ at which the stolen passwords were used to access the victim company’s computers, as if that were an appropriate business tactic

Fucking hate Ticketmaster, like if u agree

$10m doesn’t seem too high a price to pay for accessing a competitors confidential information as part of an effort to maintain (and abuse) your monopoly position in the market and running them out of business.

Yeah, it’s effectively a plea bargain to avoid a formal investigation and trial.

Ticketmaster paid £110m to resolve a civil action brought by Songkick a few years back over the issue, acquiring them in the process.

US anti-monopoly law is nonsensical to the point of non-existence. Yay unrestrained capitalism!
