Apparently there’s a genetic thing that some people (including me) have that makes cucumber taste disgusting when to others it doesn’t really have a taste. Also there’s one where coriander tastes like soap to some people.

A good thing to do with cucumbers is scoop out the middle bit. Not necessary for every application, but useful in some scenarios.

Don’t mind the taste (it’s not my favourite), but it makes me burp for hours.
I did recently start removing the gloopy seeds from the middle though. That’s a good thing
Discovered that slightly smashed cucumbers (just gently beat it with a rolling pin) with some sesame seeds (or maybe sesame oil? I can’t remember) makes for a great addition to salads

My mate Stu is an absolute fiend for cucumber. The guy will fill his plate with cucumber at a buffet given half a chance.

Cucumber sandwiches sit in the category of “sandwiches that clearly only existed because of rationing and my grandparents used to speak about but clearly didn’t really like either”

Sugar sandwiches (yes really)
And
Butter Sandwiches - my granny Edna made a load of these to eat when we got up at like 3am to get an early flight. No one got beyond a mouthful

My mum told me about sugar sandwiches. Also condensed milk sandwiches.
Butter sandwiches though, bread and butter on its own is nice if it’s nice bread. Not sure I’d want to eat it in sandwich format though.
