i don’t listen to them much so probably won’t but i’m tempted as it’s such a small place. don’t know if you’ve been in there but it’s basically a pretty small pub with one little area separated off for gigs, you have to go out through the smoking area and back in the other door to pay in, but you could also just sit in the main bar part and see/hear the whole thing (i’ve only been in there to see a friend play, and to play a free gig once, so i haven’t used this tactic so far)

I’m mad tempted to fuck off to Limerick for the gig there. Would be weird not seeing them as a full band though.

Never been to Derry weirdly but this is the best reason yet (and they have some walls too I believe!).
Saw them when they played the Empire: a similarly poorly advertised show, half empty room and they still gave it 100%. Brilliant night and Patrick is a top fella too.
We should book him for Belfast on this tour.

Five euro for a ticket is amazing.

Tempted to go down to Limerick myself ffs

ah i grew up nearby. it’s a decent enough place these days, worth a visit.

considered going to that Empire show but then couldn’t be bothered, think i was flying somewhere the next day.

I think it’d be worth it, that’s a proper good venue.

It’s weird, Limerick was shocking for music from about 2007 to 2012 after a really fertile period in the late 90s/early 00s. Glad to see the place back on its feet with artists from loads of genres coming through the city.

Midweeks a killer and bit of a drive from here. Still tempting tho.

is this when Giveamanakick broke up?

Just about that time, along with the decline of Out On A Limb as a record label. Would have been class to live in Limerick in the early 00’s from what I’ve heard.

Went to see the solo show in Newcastle last night. I ended up on the front row by accident so it was pretty intense but thought he was on top form. Certainly wasn’t the case of the acoustic tour to protect his voice given some of his screaming

What was the setlist like? Much stuff from the first three albums?

I was at the same gig. I thought his voice sounded great! Makes me wonder why they chose to record the latest album at a point when it was so obviously fucked.

A few for the new one, theme from cheers quite early on and a few others from earlier albums. And about a 20 minute segment of him talking about a Philip k dick novel

Well fuck, I wished I’d have read this thread before getting so excited for the Titus-Iceage-Idles run at End of the Road.

See him on Thursday in London, st pants old church. How is the venue, I’ve never been before? I’m guessing pews, not standing? And the bar choices/ prices?

Very small, get there early if you want a seat. It’s small wooden chairs.

They’ll sell cans in the foyer, not sure on price.
