Did you know these bros are good?
Did you hear this wonderful album?
ahhhh I forgot about these
this is hitting me square in the spot right now
I guess I registered them in mind as one of Animal Collective’s only true peers, what with how the Dead are their main influence + how they took it to strange places
the guitar is also goosebumpy like those Wilderness albums, if you heard them
also the Oh Sees’ vibier jams
oh wow, ‘What Has Happened’ even channels Durutti Column
huge shout!
people who would like these… @NeilYoung for sure, but also probably @anon65089077?
Great band! Sorcerer is so good too.
They are amazing. Earlier stuff is super great as well - worth spending a day kicking around their Bandcamp for sure.
Absolutely incredible live too - really hope they tour again soon
yeah I’m a big ol’ fan. classic mug_mug_mug recommendation on the old board iirc. think most of my taste in music was just stolen from them.
bought a 12 string that I never play because of this band
had tickets to see them the other year but it was that day when it was 40 degrees and I was too much of a coward to stand in a box room with 100 other people in that. regret it.
Brilliant album. Saw them at that Visions all dayer thing in Hackney, they were superb.
That choral where they ape a Melanesian choir is really nice. Not been grabbed by much else of what I’ve heard.
Saw one of them in a support slot in November. At least half of his set was keyboard noodling over a reoccurring vocal sample saying “You’re my baby, please don’t leave me”
Good stuff I guess!
ahh mugtrio, I miss them. sometimes gander at their last.fm for listening inspiration
I was right and then some to tag you, huh ![]()
is your 12 string an elec or?
lovely lad so he was. yes, good speculating
its this guy
I’ve hovered over one of these on ebay many times…one of these days!
the build quality is questionable! my volume and tone pots dont work, theyre either full or off.
fun though. really want to play it now.
anyone who has their tone and volume rolled off at all is a coward tbf
how did it sound when it was working?
I thought dude played a Danelectro too, but I guess when you’re in the famous rock band Tonstartssbandht, you’re making Rickenbacker money
my Charvel just has a volume pot that you press to switch position, no tone pot
also think that Thurston Moore custom JM had no tone pot
why would you deny yourself tone, is the lesson
oh yeah youre right apparently, he does use the dan. cool. maybe different model, doesnt have the name on the headstock like mine i dont think.
sounds cool, you can do the big thick sounding chords but playing lead parts has this dead nice cold, brittle quality. suits a bit of delay. string bends become weird & interesting when theyre bent slightly out from each other. thats just things that are true of 12 strings i guess, this is the only one ive played.
dunno how he manages to play lead with his fingers and carry the bass with his thumb on a 12 the way he does, found it real difficult when i was trying to learn his songs. must have fingernails.
