guess I just don’t relate to any of the characters which is why it’s not very funny

Great Job!

Well, it is a satirical cartoon so characterisation is pretty fluid. Bart appealed to me as a kid but I grew out of that and into enjoying the world the show creates. I’d say it’s more about commenting on stories, issues and pop culture references.

different tastes

Is the Bort option reflecting still watching new episodes or?

If ants allowed to combine curb and Seinfeld then I want to as well and that means I can bring the simpsons into my top 5.
Not really sure why it wasn’t there in the first place

Not sure about a top 5. But I’ve never got on with the whole awkward Larry David style comedy. Am much more likely to enjoy Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Father Ted etc than Curb or Arrested Development (despite having given both a chance).

Brass Eye is what I have thought of.

hmm Arrested Development definitely has a lot in common with Seinfeld in terms of most of the characters being dicks, but don’t think i’d class it in the same ‘awkward’ bracket as Curb, it’s far sillier. i think underneath the deliberately complicated plots, ridiculously fast pace and all the meta self referencing there’s a relatively traditional sitcom in there (can understand people not getting into it due to all the above though). not seen Kimmy Schmidt but i always thought 30 Rock was trying very hard to be Arrested Development, as are a few others

I agree with all of this. I don’t like awkward. But AD was more silly really, with some awkward stuff (maybe). I never saw 30 Rock as being like AD. I love Kimmy Schmidt. It’s a bit more ridiculous than 30 Rock. What it does have in common is the sheer number of jokes. The last time I laughed so much I cried was watching Kimmy Schmidt. And it’s a very rare occurrence.
