I cry myself to sleep thinking about the harm my children have done to their toys.

I enjoyed coco but found myself enjoying it far more on a technical level than an emotional one. I had just played Sunday league so was in the middle of the classic post football lull when I saw it though so that may have had an effect

Toy Story 3 would have been a perfect place to end it BUT I really like Toy Story and therefore I am excited to see another.

Just because it’s the 4th one doesn’t mean it’ll be shite. Cast you minds back to when Toy Story 3 was announced and people had the same suspicions. ‘2 wasn’t that good so 3 is going to be terrible’ etc. Then we got Mr Fajita Head and Spanish Buzz. And that VERY clever deus ex machina joke when the lads were going to perish in flames.

I was going to make a joke about how badly all of the characters would have aged by now, but then remembered that Hollywood is disgracefully ageist when it comes to real actors and (especially) actresses and thought better of it.

Which of the Pixar films are perfect films:

  • Toy Story
  • A Bug’s Life
  • Toy Story 2
  • Monsters Inc
  • Finding Nemo
  • The Incredibles
  • Cars
  • Ratatouille
  • WALL-E
  • Up
  • Toy Story 3
  • Cars 2
  • Brave
  • Monsters University
  • Inside Out
  • The Good Dinosaur
  • Finding Dory
  • Cars 3
  • Coco
  • Incredibles 2

The only issue with 3 was that the ending was too Andy-centric (fuck off, Andy!).

just don’t see how people can think they are happy endings, at best woody and the gang get a temporary reprieve from their inevitable fate in the landfill, and even so there are millions of other toys that are not so lucky

The toys are the parents. Their arc is complete as their child goes off to college.

The same applies to all endings

Stop troilling @eltham

My only issue with 3 is that it reminded me that Andy’s mother is ridiculously hot to the point where she looks like his sister.

I don’t think in most stories large numbers of sentient beings are destined to suffer for infinite time

hope the premise of toy story 4 is post apocalypse, the toys and cockroaches work together to build a new civilisation

Up:

  • A perfect film
  • A perfect beginning and end to a film that is bizarrely all over the place in-between it’s (perfect) emotional beats

How about Silent Running?

I’ve never heard of silent running, sorry

where is the outright bad option?

Abstain

The beginning and end would be mawkish without the surreality and arc that happens in-between, mate.
