something quite dark and comic about how after all the cold eyed ambition and ruthless CV building she did for decades to prove she has “the stuff”, all the people she stomped underfoot, ultimately she got picked for veep because a confused old white man needs a black woman to go on msnbc and explain that he’s just from a different era and doesn’t mean any harm whenever he burbles something horrifying and racist between now and november. within a day he’d already shut down most of her ideas about covid relief, medicaid expansion, eviction moratoriums, etc etc. even if she wasn’t all that sincere about them at least she put them on the table, but old burblin’ joe has a little savvy left in the noodle and knows none of that really matters for his purposes. very canny.
