  • This cheap trick won’t win back the votes lost during his handling of this crisis.

The really terrible thing he did yesterday, defunding the WHO, will probably help rather than hinder his popularity which is enough to make you weep.

I don’t know much about US politics, but everyone refusing to endorse Biden as the democratic candidate…like…I get he is very far from perfect, but THIS is the alternative. I don’t understand how you could even hesitate for a second

Tbf Daltrey does seem like a bit of an arsehole

Yeah, I think you’re right. Right wing nuts seem to hate any organisation with ā€œworldā€ in the name. It’s all ā€œSoros’ secret global government new world order take away our guns and our libertyā€ to them.

None of the big democrats have failed to endorse him, have they?

The supporters of Sanders stating they won’t vote for him is an attempt to drag his platform to the left a bit

He really is his own caricature…

Trump’s name to appear on benefit cheques

As part of the US administration’s economic response to the coronavirus outbreak, tens of millions of Americans are set to receive cheques worth $1,200 (around Ā£945).

But according to US media, President Donald Trump’s name will be printed on every single one.

The Washington Post, which first reported the news on Tuesday, says it is the first time that a US president’s name has appeared on a cheque sent out by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The newspaper said the decision could mean delays of a few days before recipients receive the cheques, although a senior official speaking to CNN denied this.

People keep bringing up the ā€œWHO lied about human to human transmission back in Januaryā€, when 1. they said it had not been confirmed not that it wasn’t happening 2. it’s far more likely they had to make sure that they were 100% clear on this due to political implications of saying that a highly contagious virus had originated from a particular region.

Most of his rich supporters will keep that cheque and frame it. His poorer supporters will be proper glad at his intervention on their behalf.

If you received a tax refund you just get a dd straight to your account. A couple of friends already have their trumpdollars.

I’m resigned to defeat. His approval is still high. I’m desperate to be proven wrong, but I think the cheques will play very well with the people he needs to vote for him.

Maybe I’m being dense but why would it mean delay, have they printed some out that now need to be discarded to print one with his signature on? Daft.

His approval rating is 44% (unless you mean it’s sky high with Republicans but that’s par for the course). Let’s be clear, Trump isn’t popular at all, it’s just a question of how popular/unpopular Biden is by November.

turning it into a campaign leaflet, nice

44 is still high, the gap betweenn approve disapprove is shrinking too. Is there a swing state poll we can look at?

He did the same with a covid social distancing letter that got delivered to every household.

I see that he’s threatening to close Congress so he can appoint people to his administration without senate approval. Apparently it is in the constitution, but no other pres has ever done it.
