Unfathomable isn’t it. 100% sociopath.

yeah, imagine that…

My mum says I’m cool.

that’s sweet.

You could just ignore it. It’s not trying at all.

Although having said that, I should just ban it for the name, shouldn’t I? Oh well.

One of my wife’s relatives - a very nice person, who I’ve really liked when we met, and is bright and articulate and well-travelled and all the rest of it - voted Trump. Yesterday, she posted a story on Facebook about how women should be celebrating smashing a glass ceiling because Trump’s campaign manager was the first woman to successfully manage a presidential campaign, followed by a dozen of her middle-class, middle-aged female friends saying ā€œYeah!ā€ ā€œThis is so great!ā€ ā€œGirl power!ā€ I posted ā€œGrab them by the pussyā€ then unfollowed her. I don’t know how to even start having a conversation round this shit with people who think like they do, but I know we have to find a way.

The wiggy twat has done me good and proper on my travel money.

Bought 5000 pesos for 220 quid last week. Could’ve got them for 200 today. Worra dickhead.

I agree with this, I also think the can be problems in the arguments made, because there just seems to be this tendency on both sides to oversimplify things, collapse things down to a generilisation (where it is the detail that is important), construct false dichotomies, and draw really out of context analogies, all to paint one side as righteous and the other as evil, but the other side can easily pick apart and dismiss. It’s like everything has descended to buzzfeed level. Don’t get me wrong, I think the right are much more guilty when it comes to poor arguments and misinformation, but the left does mirror it a little

I’ve seen quite a few similar tales expressed like this over the last few days. I’m intrigued as to why they don’t seem to have been called out as mansplaining. At the end of the day it’s not for you to (implicitly) tell women who voted for Trump why they shouldn’t have, isn’t it?

poor @iamwiggy

I was conversing with two Trump supporters online last night, trying my hardest not to get enraged and attempting reasoned discussion. Both were apparently completely oblivious to all of Trump’s wrongdoings - I sent them a link to that video where Trump is practically ogling a child and the response from one of them was ā€œdon’t believe what the media tells youā€. It is an absolute fucking mission trying to reason with people who have no care for facts. Though one person was horrified at the anti-LGBT pandering by Trump and Pence, she said she’d at least read more about it and try and make sense of it.

Tbh I’m sick of people cheering for a candidate who without even being in power has peddled so much hate and aggression. I personally find it hard to feel sorry the reaction to Trump supporters when I see what’s happening to non-white/queer people in America.

And it’s always a one-way thing, people in London are ā€˜out of touch’ with Brexit voters, people in New York with Trump voters etc, nobody ever says that people in rural or small town Britain/USA are out of touch with liberal culture in big cities and demands that they understand us.

Thought this was a decent thread:

Yeah. I’m intrigued at how both here and in America, the term ā€˜liberal’ has now become commonly used in a pejorative sense.

This isn’t going to get a left wing candidate elected anywhere. Telling the Brexiteers and Tory voters to be more like the urban liberals simply will feed their alienation. What we have to accept is the fact that the people who voted for John Major voted for Blair voted for tories voted for brexit. And the same in America- same people who voted for Bill voted for Bush voted for Obama voted for Trump.

Us urban liberals need to understand the concerns of the rural working class. This doesn’t mean being right wing populist, but understanding the legitimate concerns of people.

You’ve really not read that thread, have you?
