About as sensible an analysis as any. Genuinely.

Make America Great Again = Change Is Coming To America in essence. Opaque campaigning slogans indicating a direction of travel and nothing else.

This is where there’s a similarity with the Brexit vote - we don’t actually know WHAT the people have specifically voted for. If anything, of course. But people like May and Trump have put themselves forward to deliver it - we’ll discover what the ā€œWHATā€ is when they fail to deliver it.

@zxcvbnm you said you wanted this, this is all your fault

Yes I kind of did say that.

How can I apologise to the world?

With a Republican House and Senate, it’ll be interesting to see who he does blame. He did say that he’s going to ā€˜fix the system’ too - he’s painted himself into a corner.

I’m not convinced he really knows what the job is, or will want to do it. He sounded quite subdued in his victory speech - like he wanted to win, but not actually be the president. He’s King Robert from Game of Thrones.

this years (and next years?) episode of Screenwipe should be good.

Maybe he’ll be able to do stuff? Terrifying

I think we should both get blue streaks in our hair to accept and confirm this timeline.

Hard to count all the myriad ways this will be absolutely horrific. The vulnerable in America is the first thing that comes to mind, but I’m absolutely terrified about what this means for Ukraine and the wider effect this will have on the rest of Europe. With the Dutch and French elections looking similarly horrific, there will be absolutely no stand from a divided Europe, let alone the Trump administration

Putin can probably do what he likes. Christ

Sorry to be a pain but what’s going on in France and neathernlands??

Turning and turning in the widening gyres, eh?

did anyone else catch his speech? It was very strange: full of concilliation, grace of sorts towards Clinton. He seemed almost humble. Bizarre cos you’d assume he was going to go full Trump with this kind of victory behind him. Unless we’ve read him wrong all along and it was just a persona…?

really haven’t been arsed with charlie brooker for ages, can’t stand his shit haircuts

Far more likely that the speech today was the persona, given that it contradicts his entire life to date.

Maybe just avoid it like @marckee would do.

Thought the election was rigged? That seemed to be one of his key campaign messages in the final weeks.
