Sorry I can’t be of any help other than to say that this sounds pretty stressful and I really hope he is ok

In my experience the food in the us was great, but this was an exception.

That’s more a Southern thing than a US thing. When it comes to food here, there are likely to be marked differences between regions.

is it devon / cornwall where they’re really particular about the order of cream and jam on a scone or is that somewhere else?

Do you think other countries have better food than England? Can’t really imagine anything I would improve, would blow my mind if I went somewhere and all the food tasted like magic

really would love to stroll up to an american bar or motel and ask for a steamin hot cuppa joe.

It’s Devon where it’s done properly that’s for sure.

Grits are notorious down in the southern part of the states, mainstay at hotel breakfast chains down there. I’m from the northeast, new england area where they aren;t popular at all. However, I spend a fair amount of time down south and have learned to love them. They are FANTASTIC hangover cure fyi haha

Possibly?

You can get pizza here so I doubt I’d notice

This was in the north west so who knows what they were doing!

Grits are cornmeal cooked with bacon fat, aren’t they?

I can’t imagine needing more carbs/ stodge in that equation.

I went to Canada once when I was a child. Blows my mind that that actually happened.

Anyway they had burgers there

@itsgrits would know

yeah cornmeal, buttermilk, bacon fat, heavy cream, butter salt (lots of salt), half and half. Absolutely a heart attack waiting to happen, but great on ‘American’ biscuits!

Oh yeah they can be “backwoods” out in the northwest. I’ve had grits out there too.

truly want to visit america one day when I can afford it.

bucket list wish is to spend maybe 3 or 4 nights there, see the celtics, visit new york, drive around a bit, and eat nothing but mac n cheese, burgers and pizza the whole time.
