Spent the last four hours stitching together granny squares. Really can’t see any end in sight.

Keep getting heartburn, probably because I never eat real food :unamused:

It’s good. Thank you.

What are granny squares?

The little squares you get in crocheted blankets. I’m still learning and have so many to make and sew together, it’s meant to be a Xmas present for my daughter but…next Xmas seems more reasonable

Wow those are excellent, nice work!

I make them when I’m on zoom calls, but try to keep it secret that I’m doing it. It helps me focus on what’s being said actually, imagine if I got out my crocheting in a real life meeting I’d probably get sacked.

Small blanket this year, another small blanket next year and sew them together.

Haha excellent plan, a bit like in that film where they all make a different part of a family quilt. Or is it a book or show? Or just real life?

Was there really a whole film about making a quilt?! With winona iirc.

So many questions there.

I can barely take notes on zoom calls and your crocheting granny squares. Top multi-tasking right there!

How big is each one of those squares? And how long does that take?

Dont know about films but there was a simpsons episode where marge is teaching lisa to embroider so she can see a square for the family heirloom quilt (then the dog eats it or something and they have to start a new one).

They’re quite small as I’ve gone with a fine wool and small hook, what a mistake to make. About 3 inches maybe, each one takes about 15 minutes of I’m quick but I’ve got hundreds to do and I can only do so many before my shoulder really hurts.

Took me about 5 hours to just sew those rows together horizontally so far too, think the stitching together will take me longer overall :see_no_evil:

Yeah based on the below film I think. Maybe?

Never seen it but the trailer always stuck with me.

That yarn looks so satisfying, I really don’t like working with this fine one I’m doing now.

I love how you make such colorful stuff

I am all about bright colours but I do get the odd joke from people about needing sunglasses occasionally

This is Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton. It is quite expensive but I like it actually because it’s not shiny like some cottons, but softer than others (I can’t wear animal fibres). It’s a bit splitty and the ends fray but it’s otherwise really nice to work with.
