have been in London the past week or so, so especially so since its where I lived for about 10 years up till my late 20s. just weird/nostalgic being around so many young people/people my age.

Maybe it’s something about yearning for my childhood but seeing pictures of people from the 90s makes me feel safe, especially if they are wearing some kind of jumper

i like that they rarely look like they’re posing for a photo either. I think the 80s/90s were great for that kind of candidness in every day photography, because most people had cameras and took loads of snaps but no one ever really saw the photos so no one gave a fuck.

really like doing this at my grandparents place - you can tell that getting your photo taken was kind of a rare thing even in the 50s and 60s because for example: at a dinner, or party, people would line up next to the table or outside the place to be photographed. the ones from the 80s and 90s are just people roaring drunk gurning and laughing and not even looking at the photographer.

I think it’s the film photography more than anything. Genuinely looks like a warmer dimension

I have a lot of memories of photos of my parents & other family and us as wee bairns taken in the 70s/80s that very much include a lot of ‘lining up to have your picture taken’ rare occasion stuff

but yeah, the ubiquity of the camera put paid to a lot of that

I had an Olympus OM1 in the 90s and was quite the photo hobbyist until all my equipment got nicked from a Gîte in the Ardêche

so it goes

damn shame

Fuck it, one day I’m going to get a jumper too and hug myself

does @futilityofendeavour also love their mum?

Usually make it with mash and grate a load of cheese on top but I wanted to try a different way for a change. It was very good! And dw, we still had cheese, in the sauce
