Late to the party (as ever) but we just finished the last episode of Extraordinary on Disney+. Great little show - a shame it ended on a cliffhanger before getting cancelled.
Binged all of this a few years ago (think it was during Covid, I was having trouble sleeping and would get up at 5/6am and watch it), it’s really good. Welcome news!
The Waterfront was a load of nonsense watched every episode
Anyone watched Foundation and/or Extraordinary and would you recommend them? Friends have mentioned them but I don’t know how much I trust their judgement.
Currently a few episodes from the end of The Bear and I can’t wait for it to be over. One of those series where I’ve developed absolutely no emotional attachment to any of the characters. It’s become a proper hate-watch now, which I feel I have to finish because I’ve come this far (and because my partner keeps insisting on it).
Hmm S2 was the perfect ending. Really hope they don’t fuck it.
I love Foundation. Some great Sci-fi, amazing acting and Lee Pace is so, so good in it. The stuff on Trantor is a bit slow in season 1, but the rest more than makes up for it.
Working through All of Us Are Dead. I like the look of Mercy for None so will try that next. Any other Kdrama recommendations.
Sticking with K horror dramas - if you want more zombies Kingdom is great, I quite enjoyed Sweet Home (but I have only seen season 1) and Hellbound is fun.
I loved Kingdom, sweet home looks like fun so I’ll add that and Hellbound to my list
Looove Foundation. Parts of S1 are a slog but S2 is just great. It’s become a bit of a comfort watch - I’ll stick on a random episode to get lost in the high production values and Lee Pace’s commanding screen presence.
Thirding Foundation. They easily could’ve messed it up by hewing too closely to the dated source material, but they’ve done a decent job jettisoning loads of it and just keeping the broad sweeps.
Given that nobody else has spoken up in favour of it, Extraordinary is great — quite silly, but it’s got a good heart. It’s a real shame it got cancelled after two seasons, but due to the type of thing it is, it doesn’t really matter. It’s been a while since I watched it, but I remember there were lots of very funny bits and a lot of genuinely touching bits.
It’s got some fantastic music choices too, whoever was in charge of that did a great job.
Foundation is excellent too
getting Philip Glass to score 100 Foot Wave is one of the greatest creative decisions in television history
stunning television
Watching Attack on London. I actually know very little about 7/7 beyond the basics and this is…surprisingly pretty good and serious? Miles away from the usual Netflix tragi-doc.
second time watching that oceangate documentary on netflix and a few of the associated interviews with engineers and whatnot. just absolutely unbelievable stuff, the systematic disregard of every bit of advice that they were all gonna die is so unsettling.
Dept Q is a lot of fun. Bombed through 4 episodes yesterday evening
Makes me want to go to Edinburgh and all
Quite enjoying Murderbot. Not high art, but neither are the books. Pretty fun!
