TV/Netflix/Amazon Prime/Apple etc series thread for 2026

Wasn’t aware Dark Matter was coming back for another series, saw no build up for it. Surprised it got one to go beyond what the book covered, felt the first series had the pacing all wrong and didn’t click.

I liked it by end of season 1 when they started to embrace the wider consequences of such a machine existing and get a bit silly with it. Was happy to see the new ep continue that, plus it featured a sassy AI cartoon cat.

Just started Legends on Netflix last night starring Steve Coogan. Liked it. Promising start.

I enjoyed this. Even though it should have been on BBC 1 on a Sunday night.

That would drastically reduce my enjoyment as I wouldn’t be able to watch it.

Found coogan an odd casting in this but enjoyed the series a lot

It’s very accurate on the general way in which HMRC investigation work operates and the bureaucracy and underfunding that shapes it.

Cape Fear is atrocious. So fucking slow, no energy to it at all despite Adams and Bardem. I’ve sat through two episodes, can’t stomach a third.

Rewatching series 1 of Peep Show at this stage in my life is genuinely traumatic

Pretty sure I’ve done something like “and then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like I like you” in a Whatsapp voice note more than once

Thank god. Was beginning to wonder if I’d have to actually try it given people I would normally trust going on about it.

The one that always sticks in my mind is when Mark goes to a house party but has just been food shopping, so just puts it all in their fridge.

I really liked the way it looked - all that oversaturation etc, but literally everything they added that wasn’t in the original was painfully bad and ill-thought out. Total waste of talent and material.

As someone who has asked out a colleague, it’s almost cathartic

Haha, it’s kinda awful that it’s expected really isn’t it?! And I feel that what drives it has a pretty large negative cultural impact, but of course I’ll still watch it!

Oh yes forgot that I was looking forward to this but I’ve just fucked off Netflix. Was just getting so tired of their slop-churn. Very little of any real quality these days aside from one or two things. Maybe I’ll get it back for a month next year and binge it once I’ve finally read the book.

(Aaaand also re-watch Nimona again. Love that film.)

I really, really hope this is good. The trailer feels quite distant from the Steinbecky vibes I want, though. Hope that’s just the marketing team’s fault rather than a reflection of the series.
