reckon it’s a pretty solid pop album but it’s mostly missing the character of Half Free. not quite as interesting, doesn’t have that feel that it could have only been made by her. have only listened twice though, we’ll see how it fares with time.

Incidental Boogie is a banger though.

Really digging this guys, she’s such a unique artist. I love how distinctly U.S. Girls each song is. Definitely a worthy successor to Half-Free.

Big score on Pitchfork today, hope she gets the audience she deserves.

still prefer Half Free but new one is definitely pretty solid, have taken in more and more of the lyrics with continued listening and it’s pretty powerful.

Hey Team, just wanted to add a comment to this thread without reading the other ones.

That comment is: “I’m enjoying listening to this album”.

Thanks for reading.

Such a brilliant record - had it on repeat for a couple of weeks now! Wasn’t previously familiar with the band so dead excited to explore the rest of their back catalogue.

For the last time, U.S. Girls are not a band. It is a monikor used by Megham Remy.

Regarding this album, I really wish I could love it just as much as Half Free but I don’t. I just don’t like the live band sound she’s adopted on this album - I miss the minimalist beats and samples that characterised Half Free Plus, there’s nothing on this album that is as good as ‘Navy & Cream’, ‘Window Shades’, ‘Damn That Valley’, ‘Woman’s Work’ etc

Apologies, my mistake! Only just started listening to Meghan’s stuff. Will have to check out Half Free next.

Really like this one. ‘Time’, the closing track, is brilliant.

No need to apologise. You were merely the straw that broken the camel’s back.

And yes, check out Half Free. For me, one of the albums of the decade.

Even though it’s one of my favourites on the album, every time Rosebud starts playing, this keeps coming to mind.

Really enjoyable show at the Scala last night. The 8 piece band sounded great, especially the saxophonist, and I really enjoyed the theatrical flourishes. Props to the woman who shouted ‘yas queen’ during a moment of total silence and broke the weird tension.

M.A.H. was my highlight, damn what a tune that is. Like a funky ABBA track. I didn’t know any of the songs not off the last two albums so will enjoy catching up a bit today. Had to leave about 8 minutes in to Time. Doesn’t look like she’s been playing encores thankfully. Slightly miffed we didn’t get Incidental boogie, Damn That Valley or Sed Knife but ah well!

Thought this band set up was absolutely bloody incredible tbh. So good.

I just grabbed a last minute ticket for Glasgow tonight, really love the album

Brilliant last night in Glasgow. The band sounded fantastic and all of the theatrics worked really well.

The huge buildup to Window Shades was perfect.

Pearly Gates really sounds like Regulate by Warren G to me (maybe it’s intentional), the Glasgow gig was excellent despite me missing the first two songs (cheers scotrail).
