U2 touring the Joshua Tree

#1

They are only playing one UK date, London. Surely they will announce more ? plenty of hate in this thread I’m sure but I fucking love that album, such a massive part of my life since I was 12…

Anyone going ?

#2

U2 rightly get a spin a times but they’ve released some fucking great records over the years, well mainly the early years

#3

Get a spin?!
Get a doin even

#4

oh yeah, haven’t had any interest in their recorded output since actung baby. But yeah, up to that point they didn’t really put a foot wrong for me. Even have love for Rattle and Hum.

#5

Fixed it!

#6

Yep, I’d concur with you there.

Shame that Twickenham is a terrible gig venue.

#7

Reckon they’ll play it in reverse order?

#8

I absolutely love Zooropa, but, yeah, it’s a rapid downhill slide after that.

#9

Yup, going to try and get a ticket tomorrow morning. I never got to see them back in the day, so this is as close an opportunity as I’m likely to get.

#10

All over this

#11

By some miracle managed to get a standing ticket!

#12

Good work buddy. Tried and failed, guessing they’re all gone now and fucking not buying them through whatever shite ‘resale’ site that they’re pushing me through now.

#13

surely they will announce some more UK dates ?

#14

Yeah, just announced the following Sunday :ok_hand:

#15

It’s a great record.

Won’t be spending any fresh money to buy new product or see them live but I’m interested to see what reaction there is. Will there ever be a critical rehabilitation? After all they were a decent band once upon a time.

#16

What would your worst to best ranking of the tracks form the Joshua Tree look like saps? I think I agree with their top 3.

#17

Here’s mine (worst to best, remember):

  1. Trip Through Your Wires
  2. Mothers Of The Disappeared
  3. Exit
  4. Bullet The Blue Sky
  5. Running To Stand Still
  6. In God’s Country
  7. I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
  8. Red Hill Mining Town
  9. One Tree Hill
  10. With Or Without You
  11. Where The Streets Have No Name

#18

I find this sort of ‘journalism’ very irritating.

Here’s a classic album! Here’s what we think is the shittest bit.

A brilliant band have brought something new out! Here’s what we think the shittest thing they’ve done is.

Yawn.

#19

Difficult.

Had to have a listen.

Mothers of the Disappeared
Trip Through Your Wires
Exit
Running to Stand Still
Bullet the Blue Sky
Red Hill Mining Town
One Tree Hill
I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

Where the Streets Have No Name
