Radical centrism :joy::joy:

Of course the Tories sided with the TERFs

Absolutely a thing. Mandelson, Clegg et al are all adherents. Not exactly a vote winner, though.

It’s a complete oxymoron of a term and always has been

Are there people who call themselves centrists, and who also throw aside all available evidence and work towards something because it’s something they believe in, them and all their friends? Who cannot be reasoned with, and will do almost anything to see their political goals achieved? I would say so, yes. That, to me, is what radicalism really means.

I mean it is a meaningless phrase in the sense that tweet means it, that it’s a revolutionary type of politics that could unite the electorate and lead us out of the mess this country’s in. I think it’s crucial not to view centrism as being any different from the left or the right in terms of it having an ideology and political goals, though. You absolutely can adhere to and work towards those things, even all the while believing you’re simply being a pragmatic politician.

Sorry, yes i completely agree they exist. I’d argue that centrist zealots cannot be centristss as the centre moves but that’s another thing entirely

I was just commenting on the name.

If Yvette Cooper was Labour Leader with a radical centre left programme, the sky would be green, the nation would be full of flying pigs and all four home nations would be in the semi-finals of this year’s world cup.

Think I’ve said this on here before but I firmly believe an Yvette Cooper Paradox: that she would make an excellent Prime Minister but that she is completely incapable of doing what is necessary to get there.

Unsuprisingly, this terrible tweet has a ‘like’ and a retweet from Mike Gapes, too.

so this site is for proper media hating nerds like myself really, but it’s good. it uses an algorithm doohickey to track a few key news outlets and flags changes and tweaks they make to articles after publishing them. it’s fun to sleuth out why they change particular words and phrases, quite often you realise it’s a pretty adept form of censorship. the BBC is one of the most heavily monitored sites on there and stuff like the following is quite revealing/sinister imo:

here we can see how just changing the odd word here or there radically alters how the average punter could percieve the tories’ handling of brexit.

have a look to see how they’ve covered wars or security for instance and it’s pretty shocking how much they’ll continue to edit/redact/filter out info painting us/our allies in a negative light for days after posting a given article. yer man there is right, such behaviour actually is massively orwellian.

We’ve just tripped over into July, but whatever.

Anyone who knew anything about education knew that this would be the result, as well as the Tories and LibDems who voted this through.

A link to the July continuation and closure of this pls, @moderators
