Have at it.
Can you vote today? Are you going to?
I cannot vote because this is a local election for local people
No elections here.
Whatever the results, the discourse is going to be unbearable for the next few weeks.
That dril tweet about politicians looking in the mirror and saying we need to be more racist, only it’s Labour looking in the mirror and saying we need to be more racist and transphobic
AND THAT’S JUST ON HERE!!!
I voted in the West of England Combined Authority mayoral election (the only vote that’s happening round here). I also sharpied an extra message onto my ballot paper for good measure.
Dan Norris - the current holder of the post - was arrested last month on suspicion of a variety of heinous offences, so it’s hard to see how we could do much worse unless Arron Banks somehow gets in.
Don’t think we have elections (or if we do, I’ve missed it…)
Following on from the discussion about Reform, I’ve been wondering about how many people reflect on Brexit now. People who think it wasn’t about racism… why does the party / group of people who led it still exist?
No voting to be done round here, which is probably just as well given that the bin strike is still rumbling on (although having no real impact any more because they’ve got agency in to do it instead)
I have also voted in the WECA elections. What a depressing little sheet that was, not one candidate or party worth getting behind. But I’m worried that Reform might win, so I had to do something against them.
Also voted in the WECA mayoral election even though I have no idea what the metro mayor actually does. Believe the Greens are favoured to take it although I’ve seen mostly Labour signs out and about which is a bit worrying (both my MP and our councillors are Green so not sure if the Reform fear has rattled people).
The people at my polling station looked genuinely surprised that I was there so not expecting turnout to be high.
I’m voting for broccoli and fish. It’s a low-cal election.
Local, county and mayoral elections for me! Already done my democratic duty. Giggled at one of the Reform candidates being called “HURCUM, Sarah”
Was so busy laughing at this that I didn’t even spot that the Green candidate is Peter Griffin
Re what @xylo and others were on about in previous thread, I’m sort of with @zeal in feeling like I can’t engage with the process/system anymore. But I worry about Reform making gains, not necessarily because of what they’ll do, but because Labour will take it as permission to be even more actively hateful and destructive.
I voted for Hamish, he’s a very polite young man and I think he’ll do us proud
Sorry to carry over from the previous thread but can people posting things like
Be mindful how that feels to read for trans people right now? Because it feels like “trans people losing all their rights isn’t that big a deal”. Not singling out xylo here as it’s a pretty common sentiment.
Edit: this isn’t a stance on tactical voting, just about use of language
sorry for contributing to that sentiment
No elections scheduled here because of the electoral cycle but you’ve still got people on Facebook accusing the local Labour group of cancelling the elections in order to steal/subvert democracy.
Who should I vote for?
