Uncut Gems (Spoilers)

That’s fair enough to find him too irritating and not like that, but I’m surprised someone could find him not interesting. I was really enthralled by him as a character.

With regards to the walking around with the stone without security being unbelievable I don’t think the film is supposed to be that centred in reality, especially considering the massive bets paying off, the journeys through the opal, the orange guy at the casino, the two twins.

Might get Howie tattooed on my arse

Those surreal elements gave it a big Coens vibe, which I liked.

And Howie’s grumpy neighbour who he said was in Good Times and Coming to America was played by John Amos who was actually in those things!

whit?!

The bit where he sees his wife in that dress and realises he’s fucked up his life so much was hilarious and heartbreaking. So good

Hated those bits too.

Its pretty centered in actual reality though isn’t it? So you have to believe a character would act that way. The guy seems to have a semi-successful jewel business already so surely wouldnt be acting like that.

Man likes money, gambling and women Zzzz

You are the most annoying person I’ve ever met.

See where you’re coming from but I still found it engaging and I cared what happened to Howard Ratner.

Contrast that with, say, Wolf of Wall Street where I couldn’t care less what happened to him.

Even better the second time. A masterpiece.

Just back from seeing it a second time. Fucking hell is stressful. The tension just keeps growing.
I was with my pal who hadn’t seen it before and had had only 3 hours sleep from last nights shindig. About 45 mins in he leaned over and whispered ‘fuck me I’m tense, this film might kill me’ :grimacing::grinning:

A lot of things I noticed more this time, like the subplot with the watches and the gradual build up of anger and aggro from Arnold’s heavies

Yeah I missed quite a lot of things first time around.
Said it before a few times but it’s just fucking great film making. The score is brilliant.

Loved it. Preferred Good Time I think. Went in totally blind to that, sort of knew what I was going to get with Uncut Gems. Did avoid spoilers, but the hype was just next level. Casting is so impressive. Every character is just looks and sounds amazing, especially…

NON SPOILER REQEUST

is all the stress and tension in the related to violence - idk like gangster torture scenes or whatever?

I’m thinking like reservoir dogs with the slow burn, constant threat of mr pink going a bit psycho

Basically - I really wanna see this but think I might have to go on my own

Difficult though because I refuse to go to the cinema at any time when it might be busy so it’s usually weekend matinee only.

It’s more of a slow burn I’d say, the mood and atmosphere’s pretty highly strung and tense throughout but I don’t think (although I’m not 100% sure) there’s any particularly gratuitous violence or gore or anything
