My uni mate lives out there. Thankfully they moved there direct from Norway (I think she and her husband both work for oil companies) a few years back so they still have all their snow gear and blankets and thus are managing to keep the family warm.

I still can’t believe that Texas disconnected itself from the national grid but because their local government/electricity board didn’t want to follow any of the regulations but also didn’t bother to massively upgrade any of the backup stuff after doing that.
