If you backed this guy because you thought you believed he led a Christian life then… I dunno, maybe the wool was pulled over their eyes. But to see this and still think he was some kind of champion of Christianity is just mental.

His supporters see him as a King Cyrus figure, someone who isn’t necessarily Christian but promotes its values.

A lot of them are prosperity gospel followers (or as Margaret Atwood renamed them in Oryx and Crake the Known Fruits) who see riches as a sign that you are blessed and approved of by god.

They ignore all the camel and eye of a needle stuff and basically think he says he’s rich, so he must be good because they think sinners can’t be rewarded.
