Nancy Pelosi has said that she will not be Speaker after the current term, but she hasn’t made a decision if she will stand for election in her District again. There have been suggestions that if Nancy Pelosi was to retire, her daughter Christine, a political strategist, may stand as a Democrat primary candidate in her place.
So far Eric Curry and Jeff Phillips have declared their intentions to run as Democrat primary challengers in Pelosi’s 12th District.
Eric Curry is a 27 year old genderqueer native San Franciscan. He has never run for elected office before and moved back to San Francisco in 2019, having left to attend college in Southern California. He volunteered on the short-lived presidential campaign of Kamala Harris. He has sworn off accepting any money from corporate political action committees.
Jeff Phillips is a progressive who believe in electoral reform, universal healthcare, and a Green New Deal. His parents are upper middle class working in the SF tech industry and he is a former Uber driver. He has been endorsed by Leftists 4 Office. He believes Nancy Pelosi has lost all touch with the people.
