Not enjoying this as much as I’d hoped I would…feels quite lightweight and “silly”. Hope it’s a grower. Gonna hammer it over this next week.

The latest episode of Time Crisis is 2+ hours of Ezra, Ariel and Jake playing FOTB and chatting over it track-by-track. Really fun listen and hearing about the ideas behind each song (not so much lyrically as the sounds they were going for, also who played what, which songs were considered as singles etc.) has made me appreciate this album even more.

My current FOTB top 5:
This Life
Rich Man
Unbearably White
Flower Moon
Spring Snow

Yeah this isn’t doing anything for me. I understand why people like it but, I listened to it twice today and the second time I hadn’t realised that it was on its second time round.

Can’t wait for Rostam’s next LP though.

Enjoying this, very pleasant. Would prefer a bit more weirdness/abrasiveness in the arrangements/production, i guess that’s what Rostam used to do. Also, prefer the radio edit of This Life.

Finally, Married in a Gold Rush sounds like it’s straight off The Charm Of The Highway Strip by The Magnetic Fields, this is not a criticism

Yes to this. I do like it. I think it’s about 4 songs too long and it tails off at the end for me. I’d like it more if it was cut down a bit. What else is there is great though.

Yes that Jokerman cover! It’s a subtle song to play - they did a great job of keeping it interesting.

Yeah really enjoyed that. :+1:

The whole VW Webster Hall show was broadcast on satellite radio, so there’s a very nice bootleg in circulation! :slightly_smiling_face:

Not sure that it’s OK to post such links here but you could Google some of the above words.

This album has really held up for me, still have ‘floooower moon’ running through my head regularly. Don’t think I’ve ever listened the whole way through, I start at the beginning and listen to half or around Sympathy and listen to the end.

Think I’ll go to one of the Alexandra Palace shows, which will be my 4th! time seeing them this year.

I’d agree with that, definitely in my top 5 of the year. The first 6 or 7 tracks in particular are really strong, and that Jokerman cover mentioned above is superb, never heard anyone do that as a cover.

No idea why they’re playing this on TV or starting their sets with it, it is the most plodding load of shite I’ve ever heard

Also, if anyone has a couple of spares for either Manchester show, then send them my way.

Excited about seeing them tomorrow, Songhoy Blues added as support is a lovely surprise. Will be a very fun night!

Already a bit nervous that they won’t play Hannah Hunt though…

Would be very glad to see this recognised as the classic it is. That last track still floors me.
