love this, so pumped for the new album. amazing how the sound/aesthetic slips seamlessly into 2019, ten years on. can’t imagine that about many of the lo-fi/bedroom-pop/chill-wave trends of the late 00s.

Cassie has just surprised released a new solo album. It appears to only be available at the moment via this YouTube video:
It sounds good and has some nice visuals she’s shot and Mac DeMarco is on one track. I hope it arrives on a more convenient format soon.

The last time we checked in was in 2019, when Vivian Girls released Memory. A lot has happened since then. I moved back to New York from Los Angeles, kind of by accident. I got a job working the night shift at an Amazon warehouse in Carteret, NJ. I quit drinking. I got engaged. I went back to school and got a certificate, hoping to land in the corporate world. I spent 24 hours in jail.
I have spent the last few years working as a driver for food delivery apps. I am still working for one of them at the time of this writing. I played two shows in four years: one was in Barcelona, and one was at my rehab talent show. I wasn’t really making music or even planning on making an album. But God has his ways.
I just find this so interesting. Being in an indie band is so precarious, particularly as a young person. I hope she’s genuinely ok. It’s nice to see some her contemporaries being excited about this on Instagram.

The single’s really nice. I really love her voice and delivery.
The album’s been out properly on streaming for a few weeks and I think it’s fantastic. Each time I listen the songs get more under my skin. Its much more of an autumn record than a summer one, really has the vibes of a dark evening.
