No, I think I had started Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell a week or so before and didn’t feel capable of that much attention span at once.

The next three books on my pile are all under 300 pages.

After I’m done with Dune I’m definitely going short and sweet for the next read too

Want to get to Bristol. Excellent Egypt section in the museum there.

My mate is reading Dune and it’s now on my list for the future.

After I read some of the other fifteen books on my shelf though…

I keep meaning to read Dune too but if I’m honest find the prospect a little intimidating.

I shared this elsewhere but some of my friends used ‘watching Dune’ as a euphemism for secret sex and it does make me laugh when other people talk about wanting to see/ read it.

Just powering through it before the film comes out, there’s some real good parts but it is overly detailed. So breezing over the denser lore parts

Ah yes I recall reading your post about that. Re read my post replacing ‘read Dune’ with ‘have secret sex’ and it’s amused me alot :joy:

Ooh OK. I might take the plunge and give it a go soon!

it’s massive but found it pretty easy reading and quite compelling so got through it fairly quickly. people talk about it like it’s full of boring details about spice production etc but i didn’t really find it to be the case.

planned on picking up one of the sequels someday but haven’t got there yet.

legit how i used to feel about reading books when there’s a film adaptation  but i really like experiencing both versions, and if I see the film first I almost never bother to go back to the book so - gotta do it this way round

This is reassuring  I’m definitely going to give it a go, and I just finished the book I was reading (The Loney) last night so i’m in the market for a new read!

Going to pop down the charity shops at the weekend and see if I can get my hands on a copy of Dune.
