Next week I’m spending two days (working) in the respiratory ward of a major hospital :grimacing:

(I seriously hope they’re sticking me somewhere else)

Surely they’ll ‘divert’ you somewhere else?

You would hope so. I just know I’m visiting the respiratory team but haven’t been given further instruction. I can only hope I’m at the other end of the hospital.

Why did you have to hand deliver the sample? That seems really odd?

IBD nurse wanted a sample. She asked my GP to facilitate. He said no - telling the IBD nurse that if she wanted the sample then it was her responsibility. I was sent the ‘receptacle’ in the post, but had to return it to the hospital as soon as possible.

I’d sort of expected to be able to hand it to someone at reception, but no I was directed to the basement at the far end of the hospital, to hand it to pathology myself.

That seems unnecessary, but probably no greater risk than just being in the hospital?

All of my trips to hospital since March have been to a private hospital which has been commandeered by the NHS for routine treatments (in order to keep immunosuppressed patients away from the main (Covid 19) hospital).

To then send me into the hospital that they’ve gone out of their way to keep me out of for four months - simply to hand in a sample - seems a bit silly.

I’m probably just overthinking it though.

What shall I make for dinner?

  • Eggs, sausages (Linda Ms finest) chips and beans
  • Curly fries, battered haddock, green beans and peas
  • Salmon, roast sweet potato and carrots and green beans (the OG plan but I fancy a kids dinner so don’t vote for it please)

Chips go with haddock better than curly fries, which would go with sausages better imo.

The chips /curly fries situation is totally up for negotiation (I’ll cook whichever Avery prefers)

Haddock and chips it is then!

In a terrific bit of timing the plasterer has turned up before the joiner. The saga of my ceiling holes goes on - for aficionados of my household improvement sagas this all linked to the en suite I had refurbed nearly a year ago. Fuck sake. Plasterer obviously doesn’t fancy my company as he is sitting in his van waiting on the joiner.

Has anyone ever gone on a driving assessment course through work? I have one in a couple of weeks that lasts 3 hours, we will be going out driving so I’m not sure what to expect? It’s like years since I sat my test and I’m pretty sure I’m a good driver but probably not according to a examiner

had to click a few buttons on a screen once whilst loads of slides and that flew past then answer some questions.

Hmm. I don’t think it’ll help that I’ve barely driven in the last 4 months. Mirror signal manoeuvre eh?

seat belt on. eer remember where the key goes…

Yep. You have to do one at Royal Mail before you are allowed in a Royal Mail van which is pretty easy if you apply some common sense. You also have to do a far more stricter one if you damage a Royal Mail fan (as in a bit of damage that you can’t get away with lol) or a RTA

The assessment course if you have an accident with a van is fucking heavy duty. Even more serious than an actual driving test imo. It went on for about 3 hours, and the bird who was assessing me took no prisoners. She was a nightmare to be honest.

Weirdly enough she also turned up at the course you do to save yourself 3 points on your license. There were a few blokes in the room who thought they would be smart with her in front of everybody else. Hahah that didn’t last too long. When she called the first tea break she told them to stay in the room. I can assure you they were quiet as church mouse’s when we all returned. Hardcore.

Hopefully you don’t have her
