Dead good mate, the Icelandics go fucking nuts with the fireworks on NYE, no organised displays or owt like that, they just buy fireworks all year (which help to fund the fire departments apparently) and they all just fucking let them off in the streets for hours, it’s nuts. Felt like a warzone.

Was great, would really recommend it, few excursions, mooch around the city for a while, have a dip in the blue lagoon on New Year’s Day morning. Quite pricey but well worth it.

i have always fancied prague as well

aw sweet, you offering us digs?!

Berlin is like this at New Year too. Ended up spending midnight in the middle of a big roundabout surrounded by hundreds of people letting off fireworks.

flights ain’t as cheap as i’d been hoping across the board, maybe i should sack someone and free up some cash

oh, actually @Kallgeese what might dublin be like for new year?! (I’ve never been to dublin)

Athens, went there in February and liked it, no one ever talks about it. Marckee went there, I’d be interested to hear what he though. (It’d be pushing the 3/4 limit though).

Haven’t been there for NYE but could be pretty grim. @cutthelights would have a better idea.

If it’s anything like Cork I’d avoid it. We usually just go out to a house in the country rather than stay in the city.

I was in cork for new year about 10 years ago, had an absolute riot

We leave the city to avoid people like you!

@Lo-Pan Yeah I’ve never been to the main celebrations in the city centre, it’s just your standard fare of a concert and an overcrowded street party with really expensive beers. You’d probably have decent craic just bar hopping around the place though. There’s a concert on in Vicar Street every year that always gets an incredible lineup of Irish musicians all collaborating on different stuff, I keep meaning to go but haven’t made it yet. Here’s last year’s lineup for reference, they usually announce the lineup in November: http://nialler9.com/the-turning-pirate-mixed-tape-nye-gig-lineup-is-here/
