Curtis Edwards btw, what a boy from Darlington to the Olympiastadion

Easy mistake to make I suppose.

I’m going to be in Manchester this weekend and am trying to decide which non-league game to go to tomorrow. There’s lots of options, anyone have a recommendation?

Altrincham v Shaw Lane (1st v 3rd) looks appealing.

All this is weather dependent, of course.

EXCITING EURO 2020 QUESTION!

Apparently every qualifying host country will play at least two games at home, so does that mean that the group stage draw is more limited than usual?

E.g. London is a group D host (along with Glasgow), so that would mean that England can’t get drawn with any of Italy, Azerbaijan, Russia, Denmark, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Ireland, Germany or Hungary (should those countries qualify), as they’re all hosts in other groups?

Seconded on Altrincham for food and drink. Food market hall, couple of Belgian bars and Pi in the centre of town good for pre and post match sustenance. Ground only about twenty minute walk from them.

There’s a decent bar at the ground too for half time. Or there used to be.

Peru’s captain banned for a year for testing positive for cocaine putting him out of their first world cup in 32 years. Ouch.

I’d suggest West Didsbury and Chorlton but if any games will be called off, theirs will be. Alty is probably your best bet for easy transport, and good food and beer nearby.

Thanks, will keep an eye out for weather news of this one too.

My pal works in pi in altrincham. Good pies and beers

Jose’s comments about Matic playing with an injury are worrying, especially with Fellaini and Pogba also being out.

Mate, Big Dave Gill is on the case, gonna be postponed thanks to snow until roughly three domestic fixtures time

wrote this thing if any of the WF-PI listeners are interested:

Bury are at home. There’s a tram from Manchester. There’s an absolutely phenomenal boozer in Bury town centre called the Trackside. It’s on the platform of the old second train station on Bolton Road. They start steam train ale trails from there. Must have about fifteen ales on tap.

Macclesfield are at home at lunchtime. The train’s only about 20 minutes from Manchester. It’s probably the best town in the North-West of England for beer. There’s a Red Willow tap that has over 20 pumps.

Stockport’s great for boozers as well, and they’re at home as well.

You could easily to a fucking belting double-header - Macc Town + Bury, Stockport, Altrincham, or West Didsbury and Chorlton and easily take in fifteen quality boozers. They’re pretty much the five best places for a pint.

Don’t go to Stockport waffle, it’s horrid

There’s more chance of a UK broadcaster boycotting the world cup on morale grounds than you making it from the Moss at 2:15 to one of those other grounds for 3pm on public transport.
