Switch the Scousers and United and you’re spot on.

Hate it when people trot out the same old guff about derbies being unpredictable. They’re no moreso than other games. Nobody can make an argument for Spurs winning today without their best defender and best striker. There’s a small chance of a draw, but an Arsenal win is 85% certain.

Liverpool are 95% likely to win. United 70%. Hard to see how chucking £50 on that treble at 3/1 could prove a bad move. Look like three obvious bankers to me.

all big clubs are awful and all of their fans are stupid and lacking in imagination

Arsenal get a higher ranking than I’d really like, but watching Wenger retire and it all go down the swanny would be amusing. Plus Arsene Wenger, England manager, would be a bonus.

Na, Chelsea are definitely the worst. Plus I’ve a mate who’s a Chelsea fan and he’s always completely insufferable whenever they’re doing well.

Second, Man City, just because of the whole buying success things (their fans are generally all right in my experience).

Actually wouldn’t massively object to any of the others winning it tbh

Worst - Best Ranking:

Arsenal (think this is because I know too many Arsenal fans, but they really are totally insufferable. don’t even remember thinking they were that good when they went that season unbeaten)
United (live in the South, so inevitable)
Liverpool (obviously)
Chelsea (racist fans)
Spurs (bit like Arsenal but have had no success in my lifetime so are much easier to tolerate)
City (almost impossible to dislike owing to the fact that basically no one supports them)

TEAMS ARE IN. Was really worried Giroud would start today. He isn’t.

Probably the XI I would have picked (Coquelin isn’t actually too bad against the bigger teams). If we’d had Cazorla I would be super confident of a win, but y’know. We should still do it…

I’ll take that. Remember watching the few Manchester derbies that City were actually in the league for in the 90s and don’t remember anyone trotting out this ‘unpredictable’ bullocks then as they got another spanking.

KANE

one of my all timers is a citeh fan. fucking miserable cunt, he is. always backs most teams to beat his boys. fucking dull really

must be a Manchester thing…

Wimmer!

Didn’t realise you knew kik in real life?

Find Chelsea’s strong start more concerning than our poor one, in an odd way. The renaissance of Hazard, Costa, Pedro etc. raises questions. On one hand, it’s a core of title winners put together by Jose, who he got some great performances out of. On the other hand, it’s incredible how he mismanaged them to the extent that they were turning out such abject performances, especially when the captain was clearly 100% behind him.

Ours are a lot who aren’t new to turning out half-arsed performances. It’s been consistent under three managers. Jose hasn’t been much better at inspiring them, but maybe there really are some bad eggs in there. Performance wise, on average it’s much better than under LVG, with more risks taken and consequently a higher rate of howlers. Had we won the Burnley and Stoke games, we might just be sitting a few points off the top by the end of today, after Fergie like attacking sieges. Instead we missed a glut of chances and are practically out of the race.

I think Mourinho will get it right when the new backbone of players he brought in settles down, and he weeds out those with a weak mentality, but last season at Chelsea suggests it’s possible for him to do demotivate rather than motivate.

he doesn’t look like he can be arsed. looked that way since he left madrid to be honest and he seems to be aging a year every month he is here ala moyes. doesn’t really prowl the touchline like he used to.

tactics haven’t been great but with the exception of dropping Ibra and resting Pogba more than he has theres nothing thats been hampering us too much.

he started slow but reckon he’s adapting to the step-up now.

I’ve had to go on highlights tbh for most of this good run of form myself, but people are very positive about him

Oof that Spurs XI. No Alli, but a midfield 3 of Dier, Wanyama and Dembele. Not sure about a counter-attacking force consisting of Eriksen, Son and a half-fit Harry Kane, but we’ll see.

Expect a pretty dirty game…

Also, Kevin Wimmer was one of those players who I completely forgot existed. Would have said he plays for Leicester or Sunderland if I had to guess.

Find it weird, with twitter and how many foreign fans you get exposure to, how not only do people buy into clubs hundreds of miles away, but the derbies in particular. Find that aspect especially plastic unless you’re actually a local or match-going regular and you face what a derby means.

Like, I get it. But I find it funny when you see Norwich fans talking about how vile Ipswich are and stuff from the outside of that it’s just like ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . My gf is a Newcastle fan, I’ve moved up here now and get quite a lot of free tickets and stuff - I really like the club but as an outsider I don’t really care about the mackems. God knows how people get worked up about this stuff from other continents

*Must admit I’ve always liked Barca and loathed Madrid, but I think that comes from the dichotomy of the identities that you don’t really get with other clubs. And that Mourinho/Ronaldo era being the most hatable a club has ever been.
