Silva looked completely unarsed last season, and gave the impression of diminishing returns for the past two or three seasons. Guardiola has got him doing the tracking back and tackling he used to do under Mancini, and overall is running games in a manner befitting his quality. Sterling, obviously, and Navas occasionally does something worthwhile now. The switch of Kolarov to centre back is something Pellegrini would never have thought of doing, and whilst he remains a liability I much prefer him there than on the wing.

Easy enough to reply with a sneering remark like that, but the point is that the system and tactics weren’t the problem; it carved out the chances that should have won the game for us, and maybe would have if Taylor wasn’t incompetent.

Chelsea bought players that would immediately fit into the system Conte wanted to play. City refused to lower their expectations to do the same for Guardiola, and thus bought a fuckload of round pegs whilst ignoring several gaping square holes. That’s the difference.

It’s weird
Whilst we do look to be controlling the game we also look likely to fuck up and gift them a goal.

Kevin still loves the chels obviously

Stunner, that.

I’m going to surprise you by not launching an impasioned defence of our greatest ever player, or at least the greatest we’ve had since Colin Bell, but i would point out that he has been exceptional every season for us bar the one where the squad to a man collectively downed tools (last year).

Kolarov had three or four fine games in the middle early on against poorer teams, but he’s been appalling since. The defence have as a whole, Stones and Sagna less so than the others. We’ve conceded as many goals as Middlesbrough. Look at his attempt to catch Hazard for the third goal today. Prime example. The lad is pure shite.

I can’t quite work out the tone of your final sentence, so i’ll assume it’s sarcastic as that would make more sense. One point i would make is that Chelsea haven’t only made good buys to key spinal areas of their side, but Conte’s swiftly improved players already there who were looking at best wildly inconsistant, like Pedro, or at worst like they were there to fulfil homegrown squad quotas, like Moses.

I’m not suggesting Pep’s out of his depth, more that he’s been let down by years of awful player recruitment before his time, and has walked into an unfit, top heavy squad, but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t expecting a little more from him. The two other main issues fans had with Pellegrini were a) that he insisted on a wildly high defensive line that regularly cost us soft goals, and b) that he didn’t positively change games from the sidelines…

Silva’s actually pretty patchy

Not really, he doesn’t stop running, pressuring without and creative with the ball… never been a big goal scorer like.

Sorry, but that’s absolute nonsense. He’s the least ā€˜patchy’ player i’ve ever known, over here at least. He’s been amongst the very best players in the country every year, bar arguably one. Players like Ronaldo, Suarez and Hazard have had the odd team-carrying season, sure, but nobody’s matched Silva for consistency, or got anywhere near.

Consider this a bite.

well, vice captain

Absolutely. The man’s a machine…

YES

I’d love to see City nick someone like Sanchez, or even a player similar in style to play alongside Aguero. Hard not to like him. Don’t know if he’s quite as good as peak Tevez, but ticks most of the same boxes, and a beter finisher certainly. If you had two players like that defences wouldn’t have a chance of settling.

Me too! I’m having a total stinker, I think it’s the first time this season my top scorer has been captained.

Pretty sensational stuff. West Ham were abysmal, but that was up there with the best displays this season by any player.

Been in and uot of the room during this game. Managed to miss all six goals. Every fucking one.

Great idea to drop sanchez as my FF captain this week. At least Defoe scored one

What’s a draw-clever

Holy shit Norwich won a game. Convincingly too! Quite enjoying they’re still in the playoffs as a result despite previous form #lolchampionship

Bloody leeds
