Trebor, it turns out, did not get its moniker by reversing the name of founder Robert Robertson, but from Trebor Terrace, the name of the site it took on

This is because the mint binds to fats which coat receptors on your tongue which taste bitter flavours and removes them so things like OJ taste extra bitter.

Why does it taste extra bitter if the bitter receptors have been taken out?

Normally some of the receptors will be blocked by lipids (or summat like that). Something in mint binds to them and removes them, uncovering the receptors.

caught out the nephew when he was going through a phase of not wanting to clean his teeth like this. he was going to come out with us and we told him he wasnt allowed to til he cleaned his teeth, so he ran upstairs for a bit and came back down again. asked him to smell his breath and it wasnt minty, so he said hed just had a drink. asked him what hed had and he was said some orange squash. asked him if it was nice, was he feeling energised and hydrated now was he, yeah? really enjoyed that orangey flavour did he? felt like he was ready to go noGET BACK UP THOSE STAIRS AND CLEAN YOUR TEETH YOU GROT, NO ONE CAN DRINK ORANGE SQUAH AFTER CLEANING THEIR TEETH ITS HORRIBLE

Drinking something sugary immediately after cleaning your teeth is poor dental hygiene anyway tbf, kid needs to learn.
