Thought it was about time they had their own thread, their second EP has been released today. Indie, folk, alt country mash up, or as they’re labelling it “Britainicana”.
Feb UK tour is completely sold out and shortly after that they’re support band to the band du jour - Geese on their March EU/ UK. I can only assume that was a slot which was well coveted.
Playing both EPs on a loop lately, loving them. Some of that Divorce/Windmill-core vibe but with a little pop-punk edge that makes them more loveable for me
Quite annoyed their gig here is sold out, was just talking myself into going solo. Go on guys, upgrade the venues …

They’re really great live, not sure they’ve captured that yet on their EPs but recommend seeing them if you get the chance.
Think they’re being very well managed, drip feeding and letting the hype build with these support slots. Saw them before Soccer Mommy and Sprints last year and they upstaged both for me.

Saw a few songs of theirs at one of the small stages at All Points East last summer. Nice enough, but not especially for me. Impressive that they’ve sold out Scala already before an album.
yup already jumping up several levels with the next tour. For a band with two EPs out these are big rooms, though guessing maybe an album is coming by November …?
Never heard of them till Sunday but thought they were pretty decent supporting Geese.

No, just have done a really good job of building a fan base through touring.

The kind of band I really like but feel ancient going to see them. Lucky to have seen them in some pretty cool intimate shows and feel weirdly proud of them??
is funny how much younger the audience skews vs. Divorce (who I keep bringing up, but they’re both doing very similar things to my ears)
Dead pleased for them but also fuming they’ve jumped the level of venue I work at!
for actual music chat, think Strange Taxidermy is maybe their most complete track yet, just very well structured and restrained. But also love the joy of the riffing and drums in Can’t See (that fill at 2 mins in ooh), and the big slide riffs in Don’t Throw Rocks are catnip for me
When I saw them in a small room back in November, I was really surprised to see how many young uns were wearing WC merch. So genuinely reckon that it’s a groundswell of support through clever management and touring weather than the seemingly recent path of release a catchy single to get playlisted and then cash in.
agree, just that I’d say clever management includes getting them on 6 Music nice and early
