Must be an album coming. I like them but there’s just something…are they a little “preppy” ?
They really reminded me of sea power when I saw them on Sunday. Thought they were great. Will definitely go to one of these shows.
Album coming August 21st (which is a huge release day for me between this, Hovvdy and Wild Pink)
Really didn’t expect it this soon!
New track from the forthcoming album out today also - it’s rather good!
Hmm, dunno. Don’t think it quite captures the energy of the live performance (which I’ve seen a few times).
Went to buy tickets for Leeds Irish Centre in November and it’s already sold out. Knew they were doing pretty well but didn’t realise they’d got quite that popular in terms of ticket sales and venue size. Fair play to them. Will look nearer the time and hopefully find something on twickets
They were in interview with Chris Hawkins on 6music on Monday - they said they’re conscious that they play really fast live. That was my overriding recollection from their Geese support dates - they play really fast.
It suits them!
From my post of a gig of theirs back in 2025
Westside Cowboy were on at 8.30, done by 9.15. I like early gigs, but this seems too early (he says typing this in a pub after).
WC ripped through 14 songs in 45 mins with some very stilted stage chat to extend the service a bit.
So nice to see that they’re conscious of it but as @Severed799 says, it does suit them and they have some great energy. If there was a load of noodling between songs or whatever, maybe it’d come across different
Album out today, I’ve yet to have a listen. Heard reports it’s a game of two halves - second half slow after energy of the first, we’ll see,
Had the album presaved, though can’t remember why, so was looking forward to giving it a go. Enjoying it so far.
Anyone know where the album cover photo is from? Looks like Armley in Leeds but may be wrong.
Yeah that’s Burnsall flats i reckon.
It is - album was recorded in Armley* They did an interview with Huw Stephens the other night on 6Music - spoke all about the choice for the cover.
*Greenmount Studios
The pony on the green is what made me think of it. Will have to listen to that.
It was the Wednesday show.
