Hmm, it was the 90s for me as I still had a 5.25" in a PC until about 1992. Not sure how long after that you still saw them in games and the like, though. Nightmare really.

Having “The Disk Drive” for the BBC Micro was the computer nerd equivalent of having a Ferrari parked on the drive. I seem to remember the massively popular game Elite even had a special disk version that had better spaceships in it or something.

I had the disk version on C64 but I think that is correct.
