Listening to Carrie and Lowell for the first time. Couldn’t bring myself to listen to it when it came out, my dad had recently been told his cancer was back for good (alright Gary Barlow etc) and my brother had just had a daughter so after I heard Should Have Known Better I thought it would be a bit too close to home.

I probably would too especially as the CD I have also includes the Another Day, Another Dollar EP with To Hell with Poverty and Capital (It fails us now) on it - I’m cheating but sue me!

I also really rate Songs for the Free and Hard. Didn’t really listen to the album they released last year and content was okay.

‘Hard’ is definitely the weakest of the first four albums and it’s very much a product of it’s time. The sound is more electronic and polished to the point that you might question “Is this really the band that made ‘Anthrax’?”. I’ve not listened to it for a while but I remember at the time it reminded me of Heaven 17; I’m not sure if other people may deem this a ‘good’ thing but I found it quite enjoyable. It was always going to be hard for them to better ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Solid Gold’ as both are 10/10 albums, no doubt. Anyway, give it a try and let me know what you think.

Oh also I listened to a bit of Circuit Des Yeux’s ‘In Plain Speech’ and her voice is incredible. Will definitely listen to more over the weekend. Cheers for the recommendation!

Got the new tape loop orchestra album yesterday and it’s ridiculous.

Finally “getting” the Grateful Dead after many years of trying

This still cracks me up!

It still cuts deep after all these years! I can’t listen to too much early Conor. Think I might stick on Ruminations.

Just got into these guys recently.

Funny thing is if it hadn’t been for a jiujitsu highlights video I probably would have never heard this song I’m not exactly a massive fan of Kendrick’s.
