I’d have to say, The Best Of XTC…

On a serious note, a band I’ve never dived into. Enjoyed everything I’ve heard so need to get involved. Remember reading about how their recording contract (with Virgin I think?) permanently screwed them once they stopped touring and meant that they always lost money on the band :frowning:

oh, I’ve buggered up the poll. bear with me

Trash Theory on YT has done a really good video on them.

Skylarking, English Settlement and Oranges & Lemons are probably their most cohesive records, but there isn’t a duffer in their discography really

I’d start with Skylarking, if you’re looking to dip in. amazing record front to back

Has to be Black Sea for me personally by a mile.
Recently bought the remastered vinyl and it sounds brilliant

In all seriousness the Fossils best of. Is one of the best ever best ofs.

Wish they’d do a vinyl version.

Really tough, because all their albums are good and most of them are great.

The epic English Settlement and gorgeous Apple Venus were nailed on for me. Could have chosen almost anything for my third and opted for Skylarking.

yeah, mine is the same. was a toss up between Skylarking and Mummer for my third

I definitely lean more towards their pastoral phase, so English Settlement onwards really. I do really like Black Sea though. Respectable Street is such a great album opener!

I can only think that anyone who hasn’t voted for Apple Venus hasn’t heard it. That record is a masterpiece

Guy Barker’s trumpet solo on the end of The Lsst Balloon is incredible
