Bar San Juan in Chorlton has always been my fave in Manchester, absolute mission getting in though and that’s when there’s only two of us. Worth it when you do though.

Lone voice of dissent here. I don’t think I’ve ever ordered a second helping but I’ve always liked the idea. Sounds pretty good but not sure the tapas places I’ve been to are really set up for it. Get you in and out sharpish.

I like to go to a pub with Thai Tapas and then order omelette (plain) with chips.

Have you been to Tapeo & Wine? Giving the owner is expect the food to be overwhelmingly disappointing but the staff being so nice you feel like you can’t criticise it

I lived in Brisbane for two years and Australians get tapas completely wrong to an obscene degree… but they end up being pretty fantastic in their own way. It just means a small plate of anything - usually with absolutely no connection to Spain, or even Europe. A huge number of restaurants do them though and they often end up being where the chefs will try out more exciting things on a smaller scale, so you can order loads of smaller plates and if an experiment falls flat it doesn’t matter.

It’s fuck all to do with (wonderful) Spanish Tapas, but it’s still pretty sweet.

The place I mentioned is Red Door Bistro. They’ve changed the cuisine/menu lots of times but for a year or so ran an AYCE tapas menu on a Saturday.

Just rememberd we went to the new one in Bexley Square not long before lockdown, is it called Porta should know I go by it everyday. That was excellent and really good value. Thing it was £25 between 3 of us and one of us had a carafe of wine. Hope it survives was going to be my place to eat during Sounds Fom The Other City.

It’s fine but it didn’t blow me away (though the breakfast options are good).

I prefer bar iberico as the vibe is more similar to a place in Spain and the food quality is about a 5-6/10 for if you were in Spain (and the chilli cauliflower dish is amazing)

There are a few very good ones in Barcelona now. Most of Spain is atrocious for vegetarian options though

Yes Bar Iberico is good and the cauliflower dish is :yum: As you say not as good as in Spain but probably nicest tapas I’ve had in UK.

The only problem I had with pinxtos is that every night I was there I ended up getting absolutely hammered, because i was basically getting snacks alongside a couple of drinks in every place I went to.

Wonderful place though, such a good food culture.
