Stopping promo?
Leaving 3mins of silence mid-set every night?
Protest songs?
Could enough music fans go on strike in solidarity and stop streaming music for a day / week? Pause their subscriptions?

Make it 15 and I’m interested
I’d say a more effective thing would be to actually remove their music from streaming services en masse for a period of time (even if only for a couple of days), but I’d imagine the right to do that doesn’t lie with the artists in a lot of cases.
Only performing and recording music on a limited range of approved instruments, e.g. bagpipes, kazoo, honky-tonk piano.
I dont think any of the above will make one bit of difference. The artists who would make any sort of impact doing any of that are those already making a fortune from music. Unless they opt to do it for solidarity for smaller artists but i doubt their labels would allow them to take their albums off streaming platforms.
Probably the main thing would be removing from streaming. That’s the real piss-taker
Yeah I was thinking about this. Not even sure how possible it is to do at scale and all the metadata issues with getting it back on there.
Maybe if every major artist started uploading monologues about the value of music it could be more like a sit in? The algorithm bombarded by Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran level artists explaining the value of their music to an out of time drum machine?
I feel like, sadly, something like striking from live performances would only really inconvenience people who already support music - a lot of people are pretty happy with their only engagement with music being through streaming. The music industry really fucked it
Musicians who work on soundtracks could slip the Benny Hill theme on repeat onto the final master
Big protest of atonal noise
Releasing reworked versions of their most popular songs where the lyrics are all about them being on strike.
I’m on strike
I’m a hero
When the hell am I being paid?
I don’t belong here
Announce a gig in London and then don’t turn up
Don’t do it anywhere else, just London is fine

A breakdown of where your subscription goes. Songwriters get even less after VAT and publishers taking their cut. So imagine what that’s like when 4 people co-write a song (ie most bands)

Instead of striking, maybe the more appropriate form of industrial action would be a go-slow. All music to be performed at 50% speed or slower.
Exceptions will be needed for music below a certain BPM, which has to be played much more quickly instead. Sunn O))) will have to play at such an accelerated rate that they’ll sound like Attila & The Chipmunks. and their live sets will be over in 10 minutes.
