another december child here, and i still am a miserable birthday twat. i’m not very social anyway but have given up on doing anything for my birthday that isn’t get my partner to cook dinner for me. last birthday his parents took us out for a meal but that was only because my birthday coincided with their annual pre-christmas visit.

i can’t take holiday in december so i can’t go away or anything. also my partner and i work shifts so if i’m off then he probably isn’t!

I think the fact that I had a September birthday (plus maybe being incredibly awkward with few friends) meant organising birthdays when at school/uni wasn’t easy, with school/uni just starting up each year.

Now I am a big fan of going away…especially since I’ve convinced my s.o. not to make a big deal. Iceland this year, gonna hire a car…looking forward to it.

It might come as a surprise to some, but I think adults that go ott about their birthday (drone on about it, have celebrations carrying over to the weekend etc) are extremely irritating and needy

You could have just liked my post, “pal”.

I am not a fan of birthdays. Would never have a gathering or a party or anything of the sort. No thanks.

This year we went away to Italy so I spent my birthday in Florence and my bf took me to a v fancy posh dinner. It was DELIGHTFUL.

Oh wait, you did. Good.

I think I did!
This is something I feel strongly about and a like wasn’t sufficient, “pal”

I feel this about people who book their birthday off work.
It’s just a bit ME ME ME.
Also i’d feel bad imposing a day off on someone else just for my birthday.

I’m going to Sarah Pascoe! Are you going on the Friday night?

Nothing by choice. My ex arranged a couple things which was nice but I’m not arsed. Birthday used to fall on primavera weekend which was ace

Always a good excuse to get as many people together as possible and get smashed.

Last 2 years I’ve done fuck all though. Go out for a nice meal with my wife and that’s about it. Don’t really give a toss tbf.

I’m considering Italy for mine this year

Oh I had the most fantastic time! You should do it.

Spent 5 days being lazy right here in Sicily:

Did a few hikes, ate loads, drank prosecco for breakfast.

Then flew to Florence for a few days and had the Best Of Times.

Sounds amazing.
An ATD of mine is currently in Sicily with his Sicilian tv and he just loves it there.
Initially I was thinking of flying into south of France and then driving into Italy. Plenty of options

Usually just go out for a meal or something similar, but have done other stuff on big birthdays.

I like to mark the occasion, but not a fan of being made a fuss of. Work have forgotten my birthday for three years in a row now and I’m totally ok with it.

Thinking about it I go to quite a lot of birthday parties, I think if nobody celebrated their birthday my life would be a lot sadder.

it’s my 50th on Saturday, but unless friends have arranged something without my knowledge (I sincerely hope they haven’t) I have no plans at all. I may try and get out for what has become a bit of a traditional birthday walk on Ilkley Moor but other than that I couldn’t really give a shit.
