My work isn’t doing anything for today. Got big plans for St Patrick’s Day though, despite 0% of the staff and patients being Irish and over 50% are women.

Gonna moan about it to the manager. Get it sorted out for next year.

I have accidentally ended up at some kind of IWD strike at the University of Bologna. They were doing a mini march with a van blasting tunes and purple smoke as I got to the road. (Pic makes it look like more people were marching. There are loads of people in Piazza Verdi though)

It’s big and dumb in parts but two amazing characters and a great central relationship.

It’s something like a companion piece to Butch Cassidy I’d say - obviously different story and motivations, but that’s what the dynamic of Thelma and Louise always reminded me of.

Had an excellent IWD at school. Watched the Crazy Nike ad and had a conversation about it and how women and men are perceived with my class . Then we watched about the suffragettes on horrible histories. Then we celebrated Amelia Earhart in our assembly.

I also helped other teachers in the school do the same.

Going to carry it on into next week, particularly as one boy did ask when it was boy’s day. :roll_eyes:

IWD in progressive old NZ:

  • Police tweet posted by Gorky’s, above
  • Air NZ posting about Amelia Earhart. Someone points out that Air NZ have basically no female pilots.
  • Asshole DJ changes his Twitter name to Susan, claims to ID as a woman now.
  • The TERFs are out in full, notably brigading our chief science advisor for trying to explain sex and gender to them. (Lots of UK TERFs helping out :angry:)

My work’s event took the IWD ‘balance’ them and basically said “find ways to be less stressed at work, like go for a run or something or get your nails done, I don’t know, shit”. No suggestion that they might stop expecting people to work 70 hour weeks.
