yeah, that was the most interesting part of the lecture actually - the idea that the forger is a disruptor of power and can reverse engineer a proxy for the state apparatus that (at least temporarily and very locally) disables that state apparatus. Also reminding us that you can never really bridge the gap between the body and the documentation of it.
Was also interesting to hear just how much of the forgers’ work is about knowledge of data sharing eg putting in a fake biometric chip with no biometric info on it works fine to get into countries that don’t have any protocols or technology for scanning the chips or sharing biometric databases, even knowledge of specific airports or border checkpoints that lack specific hardware.
