A 3yo sibling of a child i was tutoring asked me last year where does wind come from and I said the sky, genuinely didn’t know. But Google says something to do with air pressure and for air to be wind it has to be fast and moving in a direction

Differential in air pressure between regions of atmosphere - pressure always equalises in a closed system, so high pressure air moves to fill low pressure regions, but it’s not a closed system because solar heat, geothermal heat, evaporation etc, plus energy loss/gain from air movement
