Kipper, Biff and Chip were their nicknames. Kipper’s real name is Christopher, Biff is Barbara and Chip is David.

I used to work on those books. In the office there was a big Floppy the dog costume which you could put on.

It’s a pub quiz staple question so it’s one of those useless bits of trivia I can trot out at parties (I’m so much fun at parties!)

I guess my cousins were referred to as ‘Woodle’ and ‘Attle’.

My kids had those books when they were little

I had Billy Blue Hat etc in the village of 3 corners

Actually, just remembered: we had these boys

Roderick The Red, Gregory The Green and Benjamin The Blue Pirate.

I don’t remember the ones we had at our school, I just recall I never got onto the tougher books. I never could be much bothered with reading until I discovered Fighting Fantasy books and the like.

I always remember my mum’s friend (who was a teacher) telling us a story about her Polish teaching assistant reading these books to the kids they taught, and how she pronounced the names ‘beeeeef and cheeeeep’

Holy shit I remember these! My primary school still had them despite them being, even then, really old and falling apart (sorry NV).

LOVED those books

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Kipper, Chip & Biff
