MMOTM - in Disclosure Day when Bonos daughter goes ‘is it human….is it a person’

How tf is it August already

watched 8 films i’ve rated 2 stars or lower this year, and 4 of those were this month. did watch a few bangers as well though, so i probably came out ahead over all.

best: the odyssey
worst: office romance
movie moment of the month: probs samantha morton pigging them lads right up in the odyssey, or maybe this bit in the furious:

After watching Rosemary’s Baby and REC, I decided to continue with a loose theme of apartment blocks/shared spaces, with help from the horror thread. Will do a proper roundup and thanks in there once I’ve watched more but Dark Water was surprisingly affecting, so thanks for that suggestion!

MMOTM: Jenna Coleman turning up to save Klokkenluider with her best Malcolm Tucker impression.

Watched on land

Watched in the sky

MMOTM: Maybe the second half of Travolta and Me

Worst was The Idea of You which wasn’t awful or anything but Michael Showlater must miss being weird/funny?

Watched and rewatched some absolutely wonderful films in July including some of my very favourites of all time on the big screen. Also went to see Minions & Monsters.

My MMotM was, as ever, the montage at the end of Babylon which is potentially the high-point of all cinema

Very good film that

Looks like I’m going to watch Blue Heron tonight, given its 100% 5 star rating so far.

What a picture!

MMOTM - The Furious is good, but it’s really the final fight that makes it pretty great.

My grandfather-in-law produced Spring in a Small Town! Definitely worth checking out any of the other Wenhua films you can find if you liked that one. Such great simple stories.

Watched very little in the way of films last month, but I did catch a screening of Nostalghia as part of a Tarkovsky retrospective the other day.

MMOTM: the candle scene in Nostalghia

I love the bit in the man’s house with the nostalgic mound of mud and trickle of water :open_mouth:

Watching The Vampire’s Kiss, and I think it’s by some distance the worst film I’ve ever seen

Giant - thought this was a by the numbers sports flick which wouldn’t look out of place as an ITV exclusive made for TV thing. Brosnan does his best, but the different actors playing Naseem are genuinely atrocious. So weirdly constructed too. Baffling film. 3 out of 10

I really enjoyed The Dink
