It’s entirely possible this is why I had attempted to block it from my memory. As an aside there’s a Q&A after the film with the director on the Mubi stream which…to be honest made me even slightly more concerned about the meaning of the film.
i was really looking forward to it, too and fully delivered.

I’ll go see it tonight with Dutch subs I think. My Dutch is ok enough to understand stuff without English subs generally but a 2.5 hour film about colonialism might be a struggle, we’ll see

I was almost going to see it last week but was ill / they changed the film last minute at the place I was going to see it. Quite intrigued though - I believe the producer of it was also working with my friend on her PhD thesis film

yeah I love that film - I saw it in LA, actually, at a tiny arts cinema downtown in a double bill with The Act of Killing. I walked in not particularly liking the city and walked out a changed man.
