I’ve paused it halfway through to watch the darts. Undecided if I’ll finish it. Don’t really like Marty in this sort of voiceover montage-y mode
Fair enough
Definitely doesn’t need to be 3 hours long either
Half-seen-o
Surprising how well the visuals from starship troopers hold up compared with modern CGI.
Bit overlong but a quality piece of nonsense nonetheless.
Best In Show
Hmmm, lots of enjoyable performances and Catherine O’Hara’s walk after she tripped was superb. But just felt very…over it as soon as it started.
Did finish Casino. It’s less good than Goodfellas (which I’m not a huge fan of anyway) and much better than Wolf of Wall Street. Fine
Joe Pesci is great though
Can’t wait for this. Surprising how little known he was in Britain. Even the TV show was never shown here, and the films kind of came and went.
Watched 28 Days Later for the first time in at least a decade. The digital cameras used to film it have not aged well at all, but tbh the poor image quality adds to the grimy horror vibes, especially when contrasted with the switch to 35mm for the happy ending. Enjoyed it a lot, will probably try to make the new one on the cinema next week. And obviously everyone knows about Godspeed in it, but I’d forgotten Eno’s An Ascent was in there as well, beautiful stuff
Don’t forget AM180
I watched Friendship with my bf who had no idea who Tim was and seeing him get increasingly stressed / confused was great fun.
I had a blast with it.
Really enjoyed Wallis island. Lovely little film
It was so great - I sometimes felt like the central character’s career felt a bit too far fetched (folk duo to doing pop rap collaborations?) but that’s such a minor point in just a really charming film
Watched another Good British film that Key popped up in, Days of Bagnold Summer, about a single mum looking after her grumpy teenager over the summer holidays
big fan of that
‘All the goths at my school smoke weed’
‘I’m not a goth’
‘What are you then?’
‘Dunno’
directed by will from the inbetweeners!
And soundtracked by Belle and Sebastian! (Their last good album)
Found Wallis Island really quite affecting on the whole. It’s quite gentle but there are enough really sweet moments, I can totally see this becoming a monster hit when it lands on streaming.
