MMotM - cutting back to the portrait of a dead guy on the wall and the portrait is now reacting to the scene that just happened in Sullivan’s Travels. Literally always funny.

Tonight I am trying to be allowed to watch Eddington or Jesse James vs Robert Ford, but I think it is more likely we will watch Heat (1995, Michael Mann)

Went a bit mad this month

MMotM: Tim Key being Tim Key

Have decided that November is a month for good films only. I won’t be watching anything that I suspect I won’t like. Started with Parallel Mothers (don’t know why it took so long for me to watch). I’m Still Here is next.

Can’t believe anyone would voluntarily sit through more than about 15 minutes of triumph des willles :smiling_face_with_tear:

(Maybe a massive nazi would!!!)

MMOTM: The Sttangers Part 2 introducing a CGI wild boar for absolutely no reason

Mate I voluntarily sat through Dune 2, I’m simply a masochist, not a Nazi.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere

Not generally a fan of biopics, the only one I can think of in recent years that I think highly of is Blonde, and everyone hated that.

This unfortunately falls into all the usual traps, so is difficult to recommend. I am a Springsteen fan so probably gave it a bit more leeway (having more tolerance for scenes of home Nebraska recordings than the average cinema-goer), but like most biopics it’s very on-the-nose, some expository lines are ridiculous, and it’s just generally far too obvious.

Springsteen was absolutely correct about the first Suicide album though, and hearing Frankie Teardrop through big speakers is a rare treat.

Also, just in the eyes, Jeremy Allen White is a dead ringer for 70s Pacino at certain moments.

Sweet Sweetback. Not thought about that in a long time. Is it as mucky as I remember?

Watched: 10 new, 4 rewatches
Best: The Sixth Sense, OBAA
Worst: Freaky Tales

MMOTM (predictable) - the car chase hill scene in OBAA

MMOTM (left field) - the room of exploding hookers in Frankenhooker

why ever do this please

some scores I love and some I hate but a strong selection nonetheless
