Let spooky film season begin! Or just normal films, idk I’m not your boss
Glad to have seen more this month, but for quality I started strong and ended pretty weekly
Watched - 9 new, 3 rewatches (Stop Making Sense, Tomb Raider, Jurassic Park)
Best - Past Lives, All About My Mother, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
Worst - The Creator
Total: 24
Best: Stop Making Sense, One Cut of the Dead, Past Lives, In the Heat of the Night, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Worst: V/H/S 94, Deep Red, Terrified.
Could really go a rewatch of this, remembering loving it
Twelve films watched in total. My September bests:
The Martian
West Side Story (2021)
Past Lives
Lust, Caution
Lost in Translation
Host
Grave of the Fireflies
Host was a right little banger. Really rated that. Been recommending it to all my horror fan friends.
Looking forward to BlackBerry this month
29 watched
Best: Past Lives, Eight Mountains, Beginning, Rotting in the sun.
Worst: Book Club 2, Living, Crimes of the future.
Had you seen it before? I still haven’t and keep thinking the moment might have passed to actually enjoy it. But I am curious
Quite a fall from grace between MI 1 and 2 isn’t there?
My Movie Moment of the Month was rewatching the very silly plane based thriller Red Eye on a nighttime flight and imagining how great it would be to strike up a chat with Rachel McAdams on a plane.
Please don’t forget to post your Movie Moments of the Month
Only saw 2 once when it came out. It is so fucking bad. Miraculous that the series recovered to the masterpiece level that it has done
Oh my MMotM was that scene in Rotting In The Sun. My partner and I both screamed at the screen in disbelief.
Only managed two films last month, The Meg 2 and The Killing of a Chinese Bookie which is quite the combo.
Currently working on a list of a few film options for Halloween.
MMotM - the Radiohead needle drop in The Creator. Best part of the film
Is there anything decent on Netflix that’s flight suitable? Not too much sex or violence, I mean.
Yes I saw it at the cinema because I am 800 years old, don’t think I’ve seen it since.
I do enjoy a dreamy film.
There are some moments which could be described as ‘not standing the test of time’ (but they were fucking bullshit in 2003 too) but Johansson (and Murray to a lesser extent), the music and the setting ensure its good-to-decent status.
Give it a watch. There’s a lot I reckon you’d like.
The whole dual movie challenge plan, prompting me to watch two movies on my watchlist each week, has not really gone to plan as of late.
What did you score Bat Mitzvah, I must know!
I didn’t score it as I fell asleep half way through then woke up for the last 5 minutes. Certainly didn’t do enough for me to warrant a full watch.
